In 2016 the Board of Directors approved updated Architecture Guidelines.
In accordance with the Covenants of the Association, the Board of Directors of the Strathmeade Square Community Association (SSCA) has adopted Architectural standards to ensure the continued fine appearance of the community. Please note that in every case where SSCA is mentioned it also encompasses the Board Architecture Committee, which normally has jurisdiction over matters pertaining to the exterior of the community.
Owners are responsible for their property regardless of whether it is owner occupied or leased. Therefore, they are responsible for all actions of their tenants. These standards are designed to assist owners with staying in conformance with community rules.
In many cases automatic approval is given for modification, particularly when it is a replacement in kind. However, often a modification request to the Board through its Architecture Committee is necessary before any change can be made. To make a request, an Architecture Modification (Appendix A) form must be submitted. This is done by completely filling out the form with necessary supporting information such as sketches, paint chips, etc., and submitting it to the management company who will forward it on for review. The SSCA then has 30 days to respond. If the owner does not receive a response within the 30-day period the request is considered approved.
Here you can find an electronic version of the Architecture Modification Request Form.
Each house has one marked parking space and is allowed to park in one permit spot if available. The blue permit should be displayed hanging from the rear view mirror. (For safety, make sure that the permit is removed while driving.) The permit is good only in the assigned court. Any resident who is parking more than two vehicles in the Court is in violation of the SSCA Parking Policy.
Residents are reminded that the parking policy of 2004-11-16 states that “anyone parked in a numbered homeowner space can be towed. Residents may tow unauthorized vehicles from their reserved space. Residents who initiate towing must make all arrangements with the tow company and assume all liability for wrongful towing.”
NOTE: DO NOT PARK IN AREAS MARKED “NO PARKING”.
You will be blocking a fire lane or blocking in other residents’ vehicles. You are also subject to towing at your expense. There is a $10.00 fee for replacing a lost permit. Call Sequoia Management for details.
Kitchen trash is picked up Tuesdays and Fridays. Please wait until Monday night and Thursday night before putting it out. Kitchen trash should be placed outside your rear gate (not in front of your house), or along the Tobin or Beverly curb if your backyard faces one of those public streets.
Recycling trash is picked up only on Friday morning from the curb along Thompson, Beverly and Tobin and should not be put out until Thursday night.
Yard debris is being picked up Wednesdays between April and December. Although most of us work in their yards over the weekend please wait until Tuesday night to put it out – otherwise our community will look trashy half of the time.
Our trash contractor is not required to, and does not collect some kinds of items which include appliances and large pieces of furniture. For those, we have to arrange a special pick-up. Please call AAA Disposal at 703-818-8222 if you have items of this type to dispose of. You must dispose of “hazardous” materials yourself, including paint, by taking it to one of the two Fairfax County disposal stations. Old computers and monitors are usually considered “hazardous” because of some of the materials used in their manufacturing process. If you are unsure in regards to a specific item, the Fairfax County website provides a lot of help and details.

The SSCAN is back to publishing classified ads of services and items for sale.
Residents can place free ads for sale items, rentals, and services. Ad

public at a cost of $50 per 3-1/2″ x 2″, $75 per half-page, or $125 for a

advertisers. Expiration date is noted at the end of the ad.
Kindly submit all advertisements in writing to SSCAN c/o Sequoia Management or by email by the last Friday of any month for inclusion in the following month’s issue. Please don’t forget to include your name, address & phone number, the months & specific heading,
for your ad to run.
Publication of any advertisement for goods or services contained in the
newsletter is not to be construed as an endorsement by the Board of
Directors or the Homeowner’s Association.
New passes are issued each summer for all Strathmeade Square
residents, tenants (renters), and children.
Updated Pool documents for 2017 are available here:
Please fill out the application form completely, sign it, and return it to Sequoia Management Company by mail or by fax. Pool passes will not be issued by the lifeguards. If you are a tenant, you must submit a copy of your lease to us for you to use the pool.
Disclosure Package Required
If you are selling your property you need to provide your prospective buyers with a
Homeowners packet. This packet is valid for 90 days from the date of
issue. The packet may take up to two weeks to produce, so it is
recommended that sellers request a packet as soon as there is a signed
contract. To obtain a Homeowners packet, contact Sequoia Management Co. via firstname.lastname@example.org. The resale department will send the forms needed. There is a cost of $245.00 for the package. It can take up to 14 days to receive the packet, however, Sequoia offers a rush service which can turn around in 5 days. There is an additional cost of $54.00 for the rush fee, making the total $299.00.
Dog owners must remove their pets waste from common grounds and homeowners properties.
Citizens may report infractions to the non-emergency police by calling 703-691-2131. Not properly removing pet waste from the grounds can result in a fine.
Community owners or tenants can use the pool house for private or public occasions. The modus operandi is set forth in the recently revised “Policy For Use of Community Meeting Room”. You can download an electronic copy of the 05/17/2005 amended document including the acknowledgement agreement.
Contact Sequoia Management via email@example.com for availability!
